Last year around this time, I found myself at a Green Bay wine lounge. I had never been before, and I was there because I had been hounding folks about wanting to get involved in UntitledTown—the new Book and Author Festival that was about to take place in my very own backyard.
(To say that I was stoked was the understatement of the year.)
Come out and say hi, they told me–and am I ever so glad that I did.
Walking in the door, I knew I would recognize a few faces. I knew there would be other folks who would also be interested in helping out. And I knew there would be wine.
What I didn’t know was that the lounge would suddenly seem very small when, unexpectedly, over eighty people showed up. I watched from the safety of a corner table as people poured in – until I couldn’t even raise my wine glass without my elbow bumping into someone.
And the entire night, I just kept thinking: Who knew? Who knew you were all out there?
(And yes, I see you, my fellow introverts – thinking that it’s better to stay home in the safety and anonymity of your shells. I certainly thought that last year. But trust me when I say: it’s well worth the expended energy, even if you just sit in the back and observe.)
Come out to see what UT is all about and to meet the folks behind the curtain.
Come out to feel the excitement and sense of belonging.
Come out and meet people that are not just excited about reading and writing, but who are excited about reading and writing here in Green Bay.
This is our community – come say Hi.
The first UntitledTown Kick-off Party is Thursday, February 22, at 6:30 at Homemade Southern Cuisine. Click here for more information.
